About Michael Wells

Mike Wells was born in Atlanta, Georgia, but has spent much of his life in South Carolina. He attended Camden Military Academy in Camden, South Carolina, as a young man.

Mike attended Valdosta State University, studying Philosophy, Applied Ethics, and English. He then completed his graduate studies with a Master’s in Public Administration.

Mike is a Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity member (whose philanthropy is P.U.S.H.- People Understanding the Severe Handicap). He was also the President of and member of the Phi Alpha Delta pre-law fraternity. While attending college and graduate school, he worked as a law clerk.

Mike then attended law school at The Thomas M Cooley School of Law in Lansing, Michigan. Mike focused his studies in law school with a concentration in litigation studies.

After law school, Mike was a part-time legal instructor for the Paralegal Studies Program at Horry Georgetown Technical College in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

During this same period, Mike founded Coastal Law, LLC. In 2001, Mike opened the first office of the Coastal Law Firm in Conway, South Carolina.

Today, the firm has two offices: one in Conway, SC, and the other in Myrtle Beach, SC.

During Mike’s career in practicing law, he has also devoted his time to giving back to his community through various fundraising charitable organizations, including:

• The American Heart Association.
• The March of Dimes.
• The Taste of the Town (supporting education efforts).
• Dancing with the Horry County Stars (supporting educational opportunities for those who might not otherwise be able to attend college).

Mike is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association and is admitted to practice in the federal and state courts of South Carolina.
