Mike Wells was born in Atlanta, Georgia, but found his home – and his calling – here in South Carolina.

He attended Camden Military Academy in Camden, South Carolina, where he developed the discipline and commitment that still guide his law practice today.

Mike pursued his undergraduate studies at Valdosta State University, earning degrees in Philosophy, Applied Ethics, and English—fields that sharpened his critical thinking and advocacy skills.

He continued his education with a Master’s in Public Administration, giving him a broader understanding of how government and public systems operate — valuable insight when navigating legal issues for his clients.

While in school, Mike was actively involved in leadership and service:

• Member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity (whose philanthropy is P.U.S.H.—People Understanding the Severe Handicap).
• President and member of the Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity.
• Gained hands-on legal experience as a law clerk during his undergraduate and graduate studies.

Dedicated Legal Training with a Focus on Litigation

Determined to become a courtroom advocate, Mike earned his law degree from the Thomas M. Cooley School of Law in Lansing, Michigan, with a concentration in Litigation Studies.

His focus on trial practice set the foundation for the tough, strategic approach he brings to every client’s case today.

After law school, Mike returned to Myrtle Beach, where he served as a legal instructor in the Paralegal Studies Program at Horry Georgetown Technical College, helping to educate the next generation of legal professionals.

In 2001, Mike founded Coastal Law, LLC, opening its first office in Conway, South Carolina.
