The charges were dropped in connection with a drug bust
in Lee County after a video of the crime was discovered on
YouTube.
It seems an officer with the Sanford Police
Department videotaped the bust. The video has since been removed
from the site and the unidentified officer is no longer with the
department.
Two men were caught with 1,000 pounds of
marijuana and arrested on Jan. 25. The marijuana was tracked
from Mexico to Lee County.
Investigators, prosecutors and defense
attorneys said they didn't know the video existed until word
spread that it was online.
After the defense argued that the video
should be admitted into evidence, all but one charge was
dismissed against the men, who were sentenced to probation and
released with time served.

Drug Charges Many drug charges are based on the ability to admit certain evidence into court. Our attorneys will thoroughly investigate the evidence and how it was obtained by law enforcement to determine if their conduct was not only legal, but also constitutional. Next, we will investigate any searches that were performed on you, your car and your home. We will try to determine if there was probable cause for your arrest and search. It may be possible to build a case. The evidence leading up to your arrest can be used to defeat your charge if it was not obtained properly.
